The SDK captures web vitals and resource timing from real visitor sessions, not synthetic lab tests. That difference matters: a lab score from a fast machine on fibre tells you very little about a visitor on a mid-range phone.
Performance surfaces your Core Web Vitals distribution alongside a ranked list of your slowest pages and slowest individual resources, so a regression is traceable back to what actually shipped.
