Core concepts — workspace, project, session, visitor
Four words that appear everywhere in DeepSync, and what each one actually scopes.
Getting started
Almost every number in DeepSync is scoped by these four things, so it's worth getting them straight before anything else confuses you.
| Term | What it is | What it scopes |
|---|---|---|
| Workspace | Your organization or client account. | Billing, plan, and the set of projects you can switch between. |
| Project | One tracked website or app. | Its own API key, retention policy, and all analytics. Every dashboard page reads the currently selected project. |
| Session | One visit. Ends after 30 minutes of inactivity or when the tab closes. | What replay records, and the unit your plan limit counts. |
| Visitor | One person across many visits, identified by a persistent anonymous ID. | Unique-visitor counts and the profile timeline. |
The switchers in the top bar control workspace and project. If a page looks empty, check you're on the project you think you're on — that's the single most common cause of "my data disappeared".
Why session counts and visitor counts differ
One person browsing your site on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday is three sessions but one visitor. Plan limits count sessions, because that's what costs storage. Marketing reports usually want visitors, because that's what counts as an audience.
